In 2010, Andrew had to travel to Cairo, Egypt for work. We took the opportunity to take vacation on either side of the work week and see the sights.
We hit several Mosques, the Cairo Museum, the Great Pyramids, and Luxor.
Cairo
- Entrance to our hotel, the Conrad Hilton in Cairo.
- Smog? What smog?
- Oh, that smog…
- First view of the pyramids!
- Certainly got to saw a lot of Cairo the first day
- Get off my cool-aid Sphinx
- Sphinx and the Great Pyramid
- Silly Kathryn, so strong
- Yep, freakin huge.
- A&K get a sense of scale
- Heading into the Cairo Museum
- Taking pictures inside the Cairo Museum is highly frowned upon
- Had an opportunity to eat with our guide at a local restaurant outside the pyramids
- Dinner one evening at the hotel
- Kathryn makes friends everywhere
Luxor
- Early in the morning on the way to the Luxor temple
- Obligatory stop at the guides cousin’s shop
- Was pretty cool and brough home some alabaster peices
- A couple of oblisks at the temple at Luxor
- A couple of cute kids at the temple of Luxor
- The scale of these ancient structures boggles the mind
- Our last night in Cairo after returning for Luxor had us feeling lazy and craving chicken
